Rideleaf Privacy Policy

Rideleaf is a cycling app that helps you record bike rides, view ride history, and share ride summaries. This Privacy Policy explains what information Rideleaf handles, how that information is used, and what choices you have.

This policy applies to the Rideleaf iOS app.

Summary

Rideleaf is designed to be local-first. Ride history is stored on your device. Rideleaf does not require an account, sell personal information, show ads, or use third-party analytics SDKs.

Some features use Apple system services, including Location Services, Motion & Fitness, Apple Maps/MapKit, Media Player/Apple Music, notifications, Live Activities, and the iOS share sheet. Those Apple services may be governed by Apple's own privacy practices.

Information Rideleaf Handles

Ride and Activity Information

When you record a ride, Rideleaf may store ride details on your device, including:

  • Ride title
  • Start and end time
  • Duration
  • Distance
  • Average speed and maximum speed
  • Elevation gain
  • Bike name
  • Route coordinates
  • Map snapshot images generated for ride history or sharing

Rideleaf uses this information to show ride history, calculate ride stats, display routes on maps, recover active rides, and generate share cards.

Location Information

Rideleaf uses your device location while recording a ride to calculate route, distance, speed, elevation, and map views. If you allow background location access, Rideleaf can continue recording an active ride while the app is in the background.

Rideleaf does not use your location for advertising or cross-app tracking. Recorded route coordinates are stored locally on your device as part of your ride history.

Motion & Fitness Information

Rideleaf may request Motion & Fitness access to improve ride detection, movement tracking, and distance accuracy. Motion & Fitness information is used only for ride-tracking features and is not used for advertising or tracking.

Media Player / Apple Music Information

If you allow media access or use music controls in Rideleaf, the app may display information about the currently playing item, such as track title, artist, album title, and artwork.

Rideleaf does not store your listening history and does not use music information for advertising or tracking.

Notifications and Live Activities

Rideleaf may use notifications and Live Activities to show active ride status, timer, distance, and ride controls. Live Activity state may be stored locally, including through app-group storage, so the app and Live Activity extension can stay in sync.

Preferences and App Settings

Rideleaf stores app preferences on your device, such as onboarding completion, selected goals, unit preferences, permission status summaries, display settings, and active ride recovery state. These are used to personalize the app and restore in-progress ride state.

How Information Is Used

Rideleaf uses the information described above to:

  • Record and display bike rides
  • Calculate distance, speed, elevation, and progress
  • Show route maps and ride history
  • Generate map snapshots and share cards
  • Support Live Activities and active ride controls
  • Remember your preferences and onboarding progress
  • Improve active ride reliability on your device

Rideleaf does not use this information for third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or selling personal information.

Sharing

Rideleaf does not operate a server that receives your ride history from the app.

You may choose to share ride cards, images, captions, or ride summaries using the iOS share sheet. When you share, the information included in the shared content is sent to the destination you choose, such as Messages, Mail, or another app. Rideleaf may trim the beginning and end of the displayed route in share-card map images to reduce exposure of precise start and end points.

Map display and map snapshot features use Apple Maps/MapKit. Map-related requests may be processed by Apple to provide map imagery and related map features.

Data Storage and Retention

Rideleaf stores ride history, route coordinates, map snapshots, preferences, and active ride recovery data locally on your device.

This data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, delete the Rideleaf app, or erase the device data. Rideleaf does not currently provide cloud sync or an account-based backup service.

Depending on your device settings, Apple services such as iCloud Backup may separately back up app data. Rideleaf does not control those Apple backup settings.

Your Choices

You can control Rideleaf's access to device permissions in iOS Settings, including:

  • Location Services
  • Motion & Fitness
  • Media & Apple Music
  • Notifications

If you disable a permission, some Rideleaf features may not work or may be limited. For example, disabling Location Services prevents Rideleaf from recording ride routes, distance, and live speed.

You can delete locally stored Rideleaf data by deleting rides in the app where supported, or by deleting the Rideleaf app from your device.

Children

Rideleaf is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

Rideleaf relies on iOS device protections and local app storage to help protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so you should use your device's security features, such as a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and make the updated policy available where the app or App Store listing links to it.
